Brain AVM

This patient complained of imbalance for several months. Within his brain is an abnormal tangle of vessels (arrows) overlying and involving the cerebellum, a structure that is involved in balance. This tangle of vessels is called an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), and represents an abnormal, high-flow connection between the arteries and veins. CT and MRI can help discover and characterize abnormalities within the brain, such as in this case.
