Septic Ankle Joint Sagittal Post-Gadolinium Fat-Saturated T1-Weighted Image of Left Ankle: The tibiotalar (ankle) joint is filled with abnormal fluid, and the synovium is thickened and enhances abnormally (arrow). There is also abnormal enhancement within the marrow and the adjacent soft tissues. This patient is diabetic, and has a known infection of the great toe; the infection traveled proximally along the flexor hallucis longus tendon, and led to infection of the ankle joint.
