Our Radiologists
Krista L. McFarren, M.D.
An accomplished Air Force radiologist, Dr. McFarren spent 12 years on active duty and recently completed her Air Force reserve commitment retiring from the AF after 20 years of service. During her AF career she was the Deputy Commander of the Radiology Department at Andrews Air Force Base and is credited with helping Andrews become the first air force institution in the nation to obtain ultrasound certification. A true multimodality radiologist Dr. McFarren also was integral in developing the Stereotactic Breast Biopsy program at Andrews.
Dr. McFarren is also an avid athlete having played for the USA women's national team in three Rugby World Cups. She continues to volunteer as an assistant coach for the United States Women's National Rugby Team. Her athletic interests overlap into her professional life and as a member of Progressive Radiology's Musculoskeletal imaging team provides interpretations and consultations for several of the Professional sports teams in the Washington D.C. area.
Dr. McFarren joined Progressive Radiology in 2001 and has had prior appointments as an associate professor at her alma mater Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She has a 4 year old daughter and large extended family in the Washington DC area. She enjoys all outdoor activities and has travelled the world.
