M. Loren Perlmutter, M.D.
M. Loren Perlmutter graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University, following which he attended Harvard University as a doctoral student for six years before enrolling in Harvard Medical School for the M.D. degree. Varied honors along the way include election to the Phi Beta Kappa Society, Princeton Thesis Prize for work on the history of 16th century landscape painting, German Consulate General Book Prize for an essay on Germanic Heroic Poetry, fellowships for study and travel in Europe, medical research, appointment as a Resident Scholar and teaching at Harvard of six different courses within their undergraduate Core Curriculum and in the History of Art. He rounded out his musical interests by attending the Oberlin Conservatory and University of Michigan School of Music.
After a yearlong internship in Internal Medicine, he undertook a four-year residency in Radiology again at Harvard, becoming Board Certified. He accepted the invitation to stay for an additional year of a prestigious fellowship devoted to MRI. Once in clinical practice, his MRI focus, large caseload and continuing education permitted him in 2002 to become a credentialed member of the Clinical Magnetic Resonance Society in Orthopedic, Neurologic and General MRI.
Perlmutter contributed to the widely-used textbook Clinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging on the subject of the male pelvis, and has published articles on body imaging and anatomy in Radiology and the American Journal of Roentgenology. He has lectured in the field of musculoskeletal MRI at the national meeting of the American Podiatric Medical Association and in several other venues.
