Charles M. Citrin, M.D.

Considered a pioneer in cross-sectional imaging, Dr. Citrin was among the first physicians in the Washington, D.C., area to use a CT scanner for medical diagnosis. In 1984, he became the first physician in the region to use MRI for clinical imaging. Dr. Citrin is also credited with developing and implementing the concept of the freestanding, highly sophisticated outpatient imaging center—a concept imitated nationwide today.

A prolific author, Dr. Citrin has authored or co-authored three book chapters and over 40 peer-reviewed articles. He is a former member of the Editorial Review Boards for the American Journal of Neuroradiology, the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the Journal of Computed Tomography. For over 20 years, he served as a senior neuroradiology consultant to the Walter Reed Medical Center. He helped establish Progressive Radiology in 1996.

Dr. Citrin is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Roentgen Ray Society and the American College of Radiology. His primary research interests include the orbit and its contents and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.

In his spare time, Dr. Citrin enjoys skiing and playing golf and tennis. He is also a member of the Ukiyo-E Society of America, an organization devoted to the study of Japanese woodblock prints.
