Thelma D. Lopes, M.D.
After graduating at the top of her class at Universidade Federal do Parana in Brazil, Dr. Lopes came to the United States to be a researcher at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis. After publishing several acclaimed peer-reviewed scientific papers, she turned her attention to clinical medicine.
Dr, Lopes completed her residency in diagnostic radiology as well as fellowships in pediatrics, abdominal imaging and neuroradiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Lopes rounded out her education with additional training in musculoskeletal imaging at the University of Pennsylvania.

With this background, Dr. Lopes delivers expert interpretations in neuroradiology and pediatric neuroradiology, and is also well-versed in musculoskeletal MRI and body imaging. She is multi-talented in languages as well, and speaks fluent Portuguese.
She joined Progressive Radiology after serving as a staff radiologist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and National Medical Children’s in Washington, DC.
